KNWR - Alaska Range - Muzzleloader

Our muzzleloader hunt is by drawing permit only. The drawing application period is the month of May and results are typically released in July. Per State of Alaska regulations, winners HAVE to complete a muzzleloader certification class prior to hunting. Certification prior to applying for a permit is not necessary for 06 and 07 hunts but will be required for 08 and beyond.

November, various date ranges are available. Hunt is 10 days long.

What to expect

Base camp is a cabin with cots and a wood burning stove. The base camp is located approximately five miles from the hunting area. Be prepared for temperatures ranging from 30o to –30 o F and daylight ranging from 5-8 hours per day. Hunters can expect to see a winter wonderland full of plenty of moose and, at night, the aurora borealis.


Transportation

The hunt is conducted on snow machines or 4-wheelers depending on snow depth.
